From financing and investments in New York City to impacting communities in Washington DC, Strategic conference director Jeanne Procope joins Jack and Ellan in this episode to talk about what it means to be a change agent.
Jeanne runs the largest annual conference and expo for the American Institute of Architects, where she and her team organise the huge four-day event for up to 25,000 architects, designers and other stakeholders. Always keen to deliver “something extra, something surprising and unexpected”, along with the conference and expo, she arranges numerous receptions and big keynotes – including on one occasion Michelle Obama herself!
Leaving her home in The Caribbean to go to college in the U.S., Jeanne initially focused on a well-paid career in investment banking – and hated it! so she quit and was persuaded by her manager to enter event management. Immersing herself in to the world of events, she eventually moved into event strategy and found her true calling.
Unapologetically honest and a self-confessed “learner’, Jeanne believes that knowing your stuff is they key. Encouraging all to “invest in your craft to discover the power of your work”, she clearly demonstrates that by putting your heart and soul into something, you can leverage the power of events to make an impact.
