End of Season 1 – It’s a Wrap – Episode 7

Concluding the inaugural Season, this wrap-up episode features a Season Review and Jack and Ellan are joined by two lucky listeners to chat about their interests in events, what they’ve learned from listening and what they’ve liked best about Season One.

Beth Kent is an English Language and Linguistics graduate who works for a digital marketing agency as their in-house marketing manager, which sees her getting very much involved in exhibitions. Francesca Starling fell into events by chance after completing her Masters degree in Fine & Decorative Art. She was immediately bitten by the events bug and has worked for the last six years for the international art fair, Masterpiece.

Beth and Francesca have enjoyed hearing all about the guests, the variety of roles and the wide range of industries involved with events, both agreeing that it is the people that make it so special and commenting on how good it is to hear the guests being so positive and getting so excited about their work. They also get the chance to ask Jack and Ellan questions of their own and take part in the QuickFire round!

In the Season Review, Ellan gives a brief overview of each of the six guests, highlighting some common themes and messages; it’s all about the people, you muck in and work as a team, no job is beneath you (and some jobs are very silly), the hours are long and irregular, it’s exciting but it really isn’t glamorous, you often have to think on your feet and, above everything, if you can handle it, you’ll be a Lifer!
