Jack and Ellan return for their third season, kicking things off with Neil Thompson, founder of The Delegate Wranglers. With over 22 years event management experience under his belt, Neil’s enthusiasm for the industry is infectious.
Favouring sports at school, Neil ditched education at 16. He worked with his father in manufacturing for a few years, before leaving his home town of Liverpool and heading to the South coast to be a lifeguard and a semi-professional footballer. But it was when he married and returned to Liverpool that he start a career in events, eventually setting up his own freelance event management business.
It was during this time that he also set up The Delegate Wranglers, a Facebook group for businesses and freelancers in the events industry to connect and share expertise and experiences. It was the success of this that resulted in Neil focusing entirely on the Delegate Wranglers – at the last count, it had over 21,000 members, with hundreds more joining every month.
In 2019 his contribution to the events industry was recognised by Meeting & Incentive Travel when they named him Personality of the Year. When you listen to him talking about his love for the industry, you will understand why.
